I'd go with idle control valve. same thing happened on my old 1.4, gets tiring driving around balancing the throttle so your engine doesn't stall |

If it cuts out at low revs when your foot is off the throttle then it's likely to need the idle control valve cleaning or replacing. If it runs normally with throttle applied then that backs up than assumption even more. |

If your taking coil pack off order a set of Bosch spark plugs, easy enough to change while the coils removed. |

Thanks. Not looked at it, just gone through stuff on here. It happened as I left for work this morning, had to nurse it back home & nab hubby's car (luckily he's off & didn't need it!).
Will have a proper look when I get in tonight before ordering anything. |

You missed a few things that it could be that re cheaper than those you have listed.
Blocked air filter, gunked up air sensor, loose/bad electrical connection, fuel pressure issue.
Yes the coil pack is easy to change, less than 5 mins on a TU3, but to be honest if you have already looked at it and you're having to ask if it's an easy job, then it's probably better that you go to a garage and have the fault diagnosed properly otherwise you could end up spending a fortune replacing parts and still be no nearer finding the fault. |

Hi
Started my 206 this morning (52 reg, Jan '03 1.4lx petrol) & engine immediately cut out. Thought nothing of it & revved on restart, dipped the clutch as I pulled of the drive & it cut out again. Happened every time the revs dropped / dipped the clutch.
Having read up on it on here, it appears to be 1 of 4 things. 1) spark plugs, 2) coil pack, 3) failed injector or 4) ECU. I'm pretty sure in my last MOT / service the coil pack was mentioned so thought I'd replace that first.
Is it a DIY job or do I need a garage to do it? Is there a how to / video / images on here? I can't seem to find anything.
Thanks! |
