Rev counter is now pointing to 6 oclock and engine temp (below rev counter) stopped working at the same time - So I assume simultaneous failure is related. rest of instruments and car fine.

The remote keyfob when pressed would flash and in the car was gentle clunk from under the steering wheel - but none of the doors would lock. I tried the various listed approaches for resetting the BSI ...
