wind blew open the passenger door the other day when my friend was getting out and I heard an ominous crunch as the door hit the limit.

Possibly. It's the little bit that slots into the runners to hold the seat in place that has snapped off. I'm not sure which part of the assembly that it's from

When changing the driver's side, don't forget you can remove the top of the washer fluid nozzle thing.Gives you a bit more room to move.
