sounds like the ignition live and battery live(for memory) are round the wrong way.
usually the red and yellow wires

I`m assuming you have the A/C Switch on and set to cold.....

The `pump` WONT kick in if there is no gas in the system anyway.

you can adjust the nut to make the clutch pedal the same height as the brake,
or you could also adjust the brake pedal too,
but make sure the brake light switch at the brake pedal is still working ...

I find the clutch biting point too high on my sons 1.4 verve
The pedal sits level with the clutch pedal and both work fine.

On his previous 206 it was quite sharp.
On my old 306 it was very sharp ...

You don't need to remove the wheels for an MOT unless a the brakes need replacing or a tyre
