ah well, after wrestling with the belt from halfords for most of the morning, it doesn't fit.... anyone near edinburgh got a GTi and can split the belt off for me? Laughing

thanks for all the replies guys, i was up until 4 trying to find a place that does them, halfords online said there wasn't any belts for my model but checked up a car which uses the same belt and foun ...

So yeah, going down the dual carriageway at my bit and the car makes an ungodly grind noise, then all of a sudden.... quiet, stop at tescos to find out fan belt snapped on me and its easter sunday tom ...

honestly mate, a thrust bearing may be cheap but for all the effort it would take to take apart the box, you'd be aswell just replacing the whole clutch, sucks but thats the best way.

my 1.1 at 19 was 1100 TPFT and to insure the GTi i went to from january to september was an extra £400ish, now with 3 years no claims and the missus learning to drive on my policy it is £670 TPFT on ...

i changed a non working locking solenoid with one that makes this loud buzzing noise, sometimes it gets a lot louder and others its quieter, i'm just getting ready to replace it when it finally dies. ...

normally white smoke is a bad sign, black smoke is a trait of every diesel, maybe needing a fap regen? maybe a service?
