If you haven't already, then check the linkages between the gear stick and box. The joints can wear over time or even pop off causing problems. |

Exactly as Mr BSI said, just to add:
the handbrake cables and outers run under the tank and so will need to be disconnected and un-clipped to lower the tank.

Yeah it is a real pain to diagnose exactly which part has failed because everything just ends up covered in petrol when it leaks.
I expect it would be possible to replace it with any hose of the co ... |

I have the Haynes manual and a 1.6 16v. It comes it pretty handy now and then - check ebay or a charity shop for a cheap copy. Ironically it doesn't cover the 16v but I have noticed a few of the 1.6 ... |

I had a similar problem, well it wasn't gushing out, but leaking a small amount when over half full. Like Edward said it is likely the rubber coupling between the filler neck and tank. Or there is a ... |
