It depends on the code on the gearbox recently had to change mine recently and I could only use a 20DM77 or 20DM78 as I found out the hard way as I bought 2 other gearboxes both off 180's however the ... |

Well Peugeot finally confirmed for my 180 there is only 2 gearboxes that can be used which are the 20DM77 & 20DM78, so now onto my 3rd gearbox which I have finally found a 20DM78, this problem could h ... |

Yeah it's those bolts, I've got both gearboxes in the boot of my other car now so when I go to look at a replacement I can compare to make sure they are identical, from pictures of another DM box I've ... |

Addaz, think the synchro has gone in 5th so keeps popping outta gear and got really bad whining in 3rd and 4th |

Off the top of my head it was 20DP there's another 2 numbers after it but don't hav the box with me, my original box is 20DN78 I think if that means anything to you Harry. |

the box i've bought is apparently from a 180 but for some reason the mounts dont line up is there any reason for this?

Thanks Dan, there is a couple of local gearbox specialists in the area, gonna check them both out and see what they think and what the cost is gonna be locally. |

Thanks for clearing that up Addaz maybe its best to stick with the 180 box then.
Is it worth having mine reconditioned or buying a second hand 180 gearbox?

Thanks, am i reading this right then that a 138 box would accelerate quicker due to the shorter ratio's but the top speed of my 180 would be reduced to that of the 138?

Thanks Lee just want to know if it will affect the cars performance, i assume if 1st is a shorter ratio it'll obviously get through 1st quicker but assume top end will be no different not that the car ... |
