Ok quick and happy update, went out and pulled off that cover, to find one of the wires just dangling there with a plug at the end, plugged it back in and the problem was solved, thanks for the advice ...

I have recently bought a 2004 Peugeot 206 S, I have just discovered the boot won't lock with the central locking or when locking with the key.

Any help greatly appreciated
