Back from the auto electricians... definitely a duff gauge. All temps are fine on their diagnostics, fans kicking in as and when they should. ECU's getting the correct readings, just losing the signal ...

This corrosion of the terminals certainly sounds likely. Would they also cause the gauge to stop working totally on occasion as i described? Also are the relevant relays ...
