To be honest the gasket was way passed it's prime and needed to be replaced, so initially that was my first thought. |

I've replaced the head gasket, water pump, timing belt and drive belt in an effort to fix the issue.
It turns out the reason I had the original problem was because I put diesel in, in ... |

I'm in the middle of replacing my head gasket and when taking the thermostat housing off I noticed that black sealant had been used to seal the housing to the head.

The coolant is very dark, looks like pond water..
But there isn't any oil/water butter around the oil fill cap. |
