and again an hour later when the sound isn't constant like before and seems to stop for a short while after jiggling with the ECU.

Forgot to say that the car drives fine and haven't noticed any elecrical problems so only symptom is the noise. Tempted to ignore it but these things usually snowball if left.

It's a constant tone, no clicking or popping. Sounds like a pump that's sucking in air or an elecrtonic eeerrr...eerrr...eerrrr sort of thing that's on and off every few seconds. I know that's maybe n ...

Just trying to get to the bottom of a new problem I'm having with the girlfriend's car - 2000, 1.6, 8v petrol.
