mine did the exact same thing, this fixed it for me:

look at your road position, if it's grit it tends to work its way out to the edges as traffic drives through, if you're edging closer to the kerb you'll probably hear more (from the nearside), middle ...

looks like some sort of dodgy electrics somewhere. changed the crankshaft sensor just on the offchance but no joy, pulled the coilpack off and had a plug out to check for spark (none) no fuel coming t ...

OK fuses all intact, both underbonnet and in cabin, inertia cutoff reset is the red rubber button behind the N/S strut under the bonnet right? Tried that still no joy. ...

Running fine last night, parked up, Wife went to start it up this morning engine turns but it just doesn't fire.
When I turn the key now the 'engine diagnostic' light doesn't come on and I can't hear ...
