Great cheers all i didnt realise that the clutch was self adjusting but that does make sense.

sorry should have mentioned the noise sounded like it came from the pedal end rather than the engine/gearbox end so i guess cable.

Yesterday while driving around i depressed the clutch to change down a gear and it click/clunked and the pedal hit the floor...my first reaction was that the clutch cable had broken.

I find that the clutch pedal on my 2003 1.4 8v lx is quite heavy compare to other vehicles i have owned.

Is this normal or is there an issue with say the clutch cable?
