I got it towed in the end.
He thought I'd have got away with it on the space saver if I took it very easy , but you never know and could have risked the whole thing dropping and all sorts of issu ... |

The garage said don't drive it for obvious reasons, but cant fix it until later in the week
I've never used the space saver spare before.

you were right. got it up on a jack and I could then see the spring has popped off and has hit the tyre. |

The car doesn't look or feel odd, but I've been crawling along since incase the wheel falls off!

Hmmm not sure then, like I said I'm no mechanic....

I'm Oxfordshire way so that is a bit of a trek.
Someone suggested £400 if I need the gear box stripping / a reconditioned one.

temp or 02 sensor maybe?
mine is rough to start with and idles a little fast but once warmed up its fine.
Mechanic suggested it was the sensor too.

My gear box sometimes feels a bit "sticky" when trying to get in to first.
It seems better when stationary or at lower speed, but that could be circumstantial.

Thanks. The MOT guy said it was that bad I should avoid driving on it! The ball is damaged and he recommended I probably need the socket replacing too. For the service they took the wheels off for bal ... |

I'm sure the garage said the cable looked good at the last service so its not hydraulic.
So is the cable not adjustable? |
