Thanks to everyone for there help, I'm overwhelmed that I've got so many replies so quickly.

As I said this is my son's car not mine and I'm not used to working with Peugeot's.

My son's 206 1.4 HDi recently suffered a failed speedo, rather than get it repaired I've replaced it with one from an SW which is working fine and the mileage has settled at what was on the old clocks ...
