I haven't messed with my EGR, and my oil level is nicely between min and max reading on the dip stick.

The engine resists to accelerate at about 1500 - 2000 rpm. It also kicks out a lot of black smoke from the tai ...

Could any of these be a cause of my problem? Black smoke between 1000 - 2000 rpm with engine resisting to acceleration? Just to say, I'm not running red! Smile

Been looking at readers on the internet and they all say diesels post 2004, mine is 2000. I hope it isn't a f**ked turbo but been reading up on the internet - could well be! Sad

Oil and filters were done in, May of this year. It doesn't do it when I put my foot down.

Subject says it all really. At between 1000 - 2000 revs the engine jerks when I accelerate, (I don't accelerate hard either) at the same time it kicks out a lot of black smoke from the tail pipe.

Got my w reg 2.0 hdi back in September '09. Paid £1500 with 87000 miles on it. Haven't had any major problems with it, but my crank pulley needs replaceing at the moment (108000 miles) as MrBSI said ...

Fiddled with that plug under the glove box (which just to confirm is white (: lol). Seems to have done the trick. Thanks all!

I have just fitted phase 2 rear lights on to my phase 1. However, now my brake lights are on constantly. Can anybody tell me what the problem is and how I resolve it?
