try jack the car up and spin the wheels to see if you can identify where the noise is coming from. try remove the wheel and have a play around too.

i can hear a gearbox whine mostly when engine braking on 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. When im accelerating on those gears i dont hear anything as well (or perhaps its minimal and drowned out by the engine n ... |

were you going pretty fast through that pothole?
Not sure which 206 model you have but I've been using Meyle HD wishbones for my gti and they seem pretty solid so far. They're uprated with bigger ... |

the fixtures around my mfd rattles. try applying some pressure around there when you hear it and see if it disappears or softens. Just so you can narrow it down. |

im very sure its not brembo's out of the factory. i've also read that the oe discs could be either Bendix or Pagid? not sure too though.

Just thought of give an update for future reference in case if anybody searches this up.

I now highly believe the noise is coming from this. Just by punching the tyres with a bit of force you can hear this pin and cover rattle.

could be dirt caught between the pads and the discs.
Either that or the disc itself is worn/uneven. could need some grinding down or replaced.

If the whine dissapears when you press the clutch then that could be an indication of input shaft bearings going.
I doubt it would be fixed by a gearbox oil change but could try. I changed my gearb ... |
