I had a diesel that was doing this and i spent hundreds trying to fix it. In the end the cause of mine was the driveshafts. The garage said it had a massive amount of "end float" in both shafts. |

May be worth checking the earth strap that goes to the gearbox as these are known to break and cause weird electrical problems. |

Last time I did one it was a pre-plex model, I tried to swap just the ECU and chip but it wouldn't start. In the end I changed the chip, ECU and BSI and it was ok then. |

I had this on a diesel but really bad, I spent a lot of money trying to sort it and in the end it was the driveshafts. You need a good garage to check everything over really, it's worth it. |

It's a completely different shape with a different plug, but either way I wouldn't risk it. |
