Only things found are tiny bit of corrosion on drivers side headlamp earth point. All others look like new. Copper slipped em all any way.

No probs. cars in bits anyway!

Just remember to jack engine up enough to be clear of the bobbin top, not the top of the threads. This should allow it turn.

I tried rocking it in situ when I got the noise but it didn't locate it then.

Only quick way I can think is to take ecu out of the way, remove the top bump stop and the buffer ( if they are fitted ...

Mines a hdi but I suspect it to be similar

I'd check catch is pulling tight on windows and seals are in good nick and hinge screws tight. . That's if it's behind the vertical part of the seal! If your aerials at the back I'd tighten that up.

Had the same on mine. About 20k after doing the timing belt started to get a knock.
Just done timing belt again after 45k and top engine mount had unscrewed slightly.

I'd change seals if you are keeping the car. Royal pain I you get a leak and have to strip again.
If you live near a pug dealer you'll be talking £10-15 for seals and bolts.

Right 2 BSI resets this morning and no improvement. Trip and service indicator both reset ok but on starting go back to same previous values. Ie has travelled 540 miles since last fill up and 50 miles ...
