£350 is good tbf on my punto it went 3 times only got it fixed twice third time i got my 206 <3
but that cost me at least £500 each time

id get it looked at by an independant garage mate, one you trust as it sound like something other than the h/gasket to me.

Ok a good garage is hard to find though lol . I thought it was because of the loose dipstick but seems to be alot of gunk just for that .

Get some more quotes, £600 sounds top heavy to me.............i'd have thought £500 max would be about right.
1.4 hdi, 206, Year..2003, 100,000 miles

i was quoted about £550 for my head gasket replacement so yeah would say that was about right! mind you that was about year and half a go and she is still going fine without it being done (touch wood) Very Happy x

thats pricey, try using engine flush and changing oil, if you havnt changed oil for long time the oil can look like that from condensation, if you not losing coolant change your oil.

head gasket £250.00
with cam belt extra £150.00

i changed my oil last month soooo Rolling Eyes i didnt flush i though .

my GT had this problem last winter solved the problem, with a 600 mile round trip and a full oil change and flush, to get rid of any emulsified oil. and since then no problems

You can proberbly put a new engine in it with less miles and would still cost less

Would a compresion test with one of those gauges that screw into the spark plug holes be able to diagnose if the headgaskets gone? . . . If so has anyone done a compresion test before?

i had one done, diidnt tell me much info, i was told that there was no compression in cylinder 4. they said they dont know what it is for sure without taking it apart

it will tell you if you got a fault with the head, if there is a fault you will defo have to take the head off, try it mate
