Yep, another one of 'these' threads!

Lifted my mats out today and noticed a fair amount of water in the passenger footwell under the mat. Not sure how long it's been there for as the mats have been in a while.

It's in the centre of the footwell only and the front, back and sides of the carpet feel bone dry!

The water itself isn't greasy or dirty as such, just smells musky.

I'm fairly sure it's not coming from the heater matrix as I've not needed to top the water up, it's spot on the same level as it was ages ago. Where abouts are the pipes that tend to leak so I can check?

It's not coming from the map reading light as it's bone dry.

It's not coming from the door membrane as I've had the door open and put the hosepipe on the outside and 99% of the water goes down the door with a tiny bit coming out the bottom of the door through the drainage holes to the outside.

How easy is the carpet to take up in the footwells as it was gong dark by the time I'd finished?

Cheers.

Whats the glovebox like? Everything dry in there? Check the back (not the back of the inside, the outer back - Undernearth the dash) of the glovebox as well. Smile

drips in from the top of the door seal and saturates the centre of the footwell carpet Sad

replace the door seal with a new one and mop up as much water as possible then leave the car running for half hour with the heater on full pointing at the footwell and it will dry it out Smile

This has happened to me once or twice and could never find where its from as everywhere else is bone dry but I dont see how it can come from the door as it tends to be up the top right hand corner of the mat :/

you could try the heater matrix which is located to the rite of the passenger footwell at the fan area, iv had a couple of peugeot's with a leaking matrix.

Hi Mike,

I have the exact same problem with mine (1.6 2000 GLX). Looks like mine is coming from right hand side of the passanger footwell, the matts are wet. I thought it could be the heater matrix too but my fluids don't seem to be going down? My washers are out of water so wanted to elimiate this by leaving it and seeing if the leak keeps on.
Did you ever find out what was causing yours?
I think I'll also check my arial as suggested above. Its coming from the centre console on mine so dont think it could be the door seals.

Chris
