Hi All
Please help me, i got this weird issue of losing coolant. basically i went to brazil for 15 days and parked my car at friend's house when i came back and drove the car for 100 miles and reached home. i found the passenger side mat was proper drenched with water and my car was overheating on the way back, so i checked the coolant and it was gone low from absolutely max level.
Any ideas as i am panicking that this has something to do with the brain gasket of car.
help

and by the way the car is 1.4 hdi diesel 206

I would guess heater matrix gone - its like a mini radiator behind the dash that gives the heater its warmth from the water circulating in the engine. I had this on a previous car (Fiesta). If the water is inside the car then thats the most likely. Obviously, don't drive it too far without coolant. My uncle did mine, and managed to bypass the heater temporarily so I could use the car until he could do the work. Not sure of this possible on a 206 - others might advise.
PS By "Brain gasket" I think you mean HEAD gasket? Don't think so in this case as that wouldn't let water inside the car, unless the water inside is coming from somewhere else and not connected with the coolant loss.

It will be the heater matrix, a bit of a pig of a job to change.

Mine cost £375 and that was with a friend who works in a garage doing it with some discount =/
He'd never changed one in a 206 before, and he said it was a complete b***h of a job. It's in a really awkward place. He almost recommended someone else because he found out that some models have to be de-gased and re-gased, and wasn't sure he'd be able to. Unfortunately I'm not sure if yours would have to have that done, but basically.. it isnt cheap!! Sorry dude!!

Heater matrix isnt as hard as people say..
I got a quote for £400 so i decided would do it myself..
Took me and Liam-Hutch 1 hour 30 mins to take the one out of his old car and then the one out of my car and his old one in mine... No problems..
I had to remove the glove box but that was it.
I will happily change one for £300

Yea i have other problems now..
3/4 of my Thermostat is missing :L
And needs a new idle control valve :L

Just curious, re: Heater matrix change, does it make any more difficult if you have air con?

No. They are all the same.
A GTi one fits a 1.6/1.4 Quicksilver.
Just 2 pipes like on all models.

exactly what Danny has previously said it is a quite simple job and not as hard as people may think, its just having the bottle to turn round and say ok, ill give it a go, haynes manual is a good start as myself and danny managed to remove mine and remove his and fit a new one in approx 1 1/2 hours maximum.
you would get quoted that kind of money because people say its a dash out job, i can assure you it can be done without with a bit of brute force and still not making any damage to the car in the process
