Before I get told off... I have done a search before posting, however couldn't find a definitive answer 
Does the quickshift (griffiths/ecosse etc) put more strain on certain parts? I assume that wear is increased?
Also, which is better?
I read the that grifiths is ok if you do everything up securely and its 1/2 the price of the ecosse one, however I see a few people really slate the griffiths but don't give a definitive reason.
I'm confused about the ecosse one, seems to be 3 set points that you can adjust the throw to, but I read that it can move the gear central location out of place and people were having to replace the gear stick? or was that a different kit?

from what iv heard the griffiths quickshift for the GTI and HDI are the poorly designed ones

Yeah but in what way? They look almost exactly the same as the ecosse ones, apart from the ecosse one has 3 set positions?
or am I missing something?!

But at a guess they will be a simple at on with two bolts, get a proper quickshift that lowers the gear stick

i think because on the griffiths one its not held in a fixed place, it can become loose and move side to side, therefore F'ing up the gearbox. The ecosse and spoox ones they are in fixed positions so cant move
but the pic of the griffiths one you have above is not for the GTi or HDi, that one is for 1.1 1.4 1.6. many people have fitted the griffiths one shown and had no problems. its the GTi one that seem to cause problems, look on the site they are a different design altogether

it puts a bit more strain on gear syncros but i doubt you would notice it as boxes dont seem to be to weak

Fair enough, cheers for clearing that up!
Think i'll wait till next payday and get the ecosse one, don't really want the thing coming apart on a roundabout

Are they actually worth it??? My gear stick has a hell of a throw on it and just wondered if it is actually worth doing :/

yh shortens up the throw, which i think is better. i do prefer it when i drive newer cars. i think i will get one soon too. should get a group buy sorted lol, id be up for it

I have just bought a griffiths quickshift, I was thinking the same as you mate but after talking to a dan_vvt and seeing his one in action I ordered 1 lol.
