please can any body help me there has been somethink not right with my car since i got it so ive been doing a few things to it to sort it but to day i changed the oil and filter cleaned the icv still the same so why the car was started i disconnected the map sensor and the revs dropped and then cut out so i connected it back up started the car and it just cut back out the only way it runs now is if i hold the revs down and it sounds like crap and as soon as i let go of the revs it just cuts out and i was told it gives out a puff off black smoke every time i start it would the map sensor be gone, if so would a map sensor of a 1998 saxo vtr fit

and does any body on here know some where in birmingham that is really good with peugeots cause ive never had one befor and dont know any body thats really good with them thanks

Have you reset the ECU after replacing the ICV?

Open the drivers window, remove key from ignition.
Open bonnet, close all other doors. Leave for 5-10 mins, disconnect battery (negative). Leave off for a min or 2.
Replace battery lead.
Reach in through drivers window (do not open any doors) and turn on the sidelights then dipped beam. Then back off. Then take the car for a 15 minute drive.

the car had its codes read and there was none stord and thats the reason i ask if there is any one in birmingham thats relly good with peugeots, and cd-vrs no i didnt know u could i did read some think on here about it be 4 but i just disconnected the positive i will give it a go 2 moz thanks very much do u think i could of broke the map sensor

Try cleaning the map sensor then puting it back in.

ye i did clean it but still the same im just going to reset the ecu and hope it works will post back later if it worked or not

If you just cleaned the idle control valve it doesn't need the ECU resetting!

You could have damaged the MAP sensor but I'd try cleaning it first.

Can you add some punctuation and paragraphs to your first post? It's very difficult to read.

well i reset the ecu and still the same, i then changed the map sensor with the one of my saxo vtr they are both the same but it didnt make any differance, would i need 2 reset the ecu again with the new map sensor.

just to let people know the car when started sounds louder now than be 4 and the exhaust pops,
and just be 4 the car cuts out it sounds like its sucking loads of air in then just dies, any ideas to what it could be i would be really gratefull cause i really miss driving it,
or if any body knows some where in birmingham i can take it to that can help thanks 4 all your help

Did you put the lid on the throttle body properly? Did you remove any hoses to the TB?
