Lol missgti180, when I'm driving to work on the lanes at 5am the roads are virtually empty, and my right foot does get a little heavy Wink
But doing it on track is a different ball game, hitting the apex and powering out of a corner and finding the right braking point is a fine art lol

I think you're panicking over nothing in all honesty. I've been doing track days for more than 5 years and as long as you let the Track-Hero's carry on and don't get baited, or become one yourself, then you'll be ok. The trick is to let the idiots carry on being the idiots. Usually they think that being overtaken is an insult to their manhood (the briefer at Rockingham will use those exact words Laughing ). Just let them carry on and go round them when they've met the kitty litter.

I've had people spin off in front of me, others have slid past as they've run out of talent, along with the odd breakdown that happens. As long as you keep your wits about you and keep an eye of everything going on around you, the probability of a smash isn't as great as you think. Most people are out there in their pride and joy and a smash is the last thing on the agenda. Those that have less care should be let to just carry on, when I'm out there I'm against myself, improving lines on corners, reducing squeal and increasing control, drive 9/10ths and leave the little extra for when an idiot is in the vicinity, it's not a competition with anyone else out there. I'll be taking passengers again this year and their safety comes above trying to out-drive someone else.

My girlfriend was telling me about her insurance the other day, apparently her insurance says that if she takes her car on a track the insurance is completely invalid, which means you have to pay for everything yourself.

hence why you can get track insurance as a separate thing.

I doubt if any insurance companies cover you on a track as standard

Rockinghams a cracking beginners track, nice mix of straights and reasonable bends, just the 1 chicane at the far end and a nice sector of the Oval to use too. Camber's not too bad on most of them either, the off camber ones are good fun when the back steps out mind Twisted Evil

Just go out there, at your own pace, let the faster ones through and just enjoy yourself dude. If you see a Silver & Red SEAT approaching, you know what to do Rolling On The Floor Laughing

I know most insurers don't cover you as standard Jay, my point being really is I can't believe they will let you on the track doing whatever speeds without insurance, I'm waiting on sebs reply about getting insurance for the £50, if I do take that out though I might up my track time from a 15min session to something longer

I'll vouch for that. I've never been on a track before and I went round Rockingham in an R8 on that racing experience day thing they do. It was mega fun and the corners werent too difficult.

I only did the small track mind, but its still not a hard track to drive Smile

I have drove round a track in a gallardo before, some airfield they had converted, and I've watched a few YouTube vids of the fcs track and it doesn't look too bad, the oval bit looks fun, what speeds were you hitting mate?

Why is that surprising? if you crash and wreck your 206 it's the drivers fault, if you happen to hit a Porsche then you better have a lottery win coming your way. All it means is that if you crash without insurance then the insurance company will be laughing at you

My top speed was only 108mph, it was just after the hair pin bit behind the pit area. My instructor was telling me when to brake and he kept telling me to keep my foot down till I was a quarter way round the next corner. If i was in my car i think id have gone off lol, although my car probably cant do 108 without exploding lol.
