That's exactly why I think it's suprising, all it takes is a nail or something to hit your tyre, you spin out and write 3 cars off in the process, mistakes and accidents happen so I find it suprising they let you drive around the track with that risk, I suppose everyone's in the same boat so if you crash you foot the bill to repair your car, what happens if someone goes into the back of you and it's no fault of your own, does the driver who hit me pay for damage?

I have drove round a track in a gallardo before, some airfield they had converted, and I've watched a few YouTube vids of the fcs track and it doesn't look too bad, the oval bit looks fun, what speeds were you hitting mate?

My top speed was only 108mph, it was just after the hair pin bit behind the pit area. My instructor was telling me when to brake and he kept telling me to keep my foot down till I was a quarter way round the next corner. If i was in my car i think id have gone off lol, although my car probably cant do 108 without exploding lol.
Who's car were you in then? And I never knew you had instructors in the car with you

I was using the track day organisers R8.
You dont have instructors in your car at things like FCS though.

Oh right I understand now, I had 160mph in the gallardo, only managed to get it in 6th gear a handful of times, was immense fun though

The only thing I will say is that it's very important to have your car ready and properly prepared before the day.

Make sure oil, coolant, tyres, brakes, brake fluid and setup are all checked.

Taking spare oil and coolant with you is a good idea as well.

I dont have insurance when on trackdays, as the cars i use arent really worth that much

Gti - £500

205 gravel car - £3k (but parts are cheap, admittedly not mine but i use it)

And they are not my road cars, so it does not truely matter if i stuff the gti

That's alright then because the one thing going on track will do is show up a lot of the uncared for cars.

Nail on the track? The track isn't the M1 dude Laughing Tracks are generally much cleaner than the roads (save for rubber marbles). It's nice having no manhole covers, catseyes or oncoming traffic too Laughing

I can't remember what the top speed I got on track was, I'll have a look this time round though, should imagine close to 140mph or more Laughing I've hit 160mph so far in it (Clocks only go up to that), didn't have the space to push harder although I don't think much more could've been gained.

Well my stepdad is a master tech for Peugeot so while the car was sorned I had him replace everything that needed doing, just a really thorough service really, new discs and pads all round, new seals in places it needed them, and it flew through the mot with a couple of minor pointers, one was a rogue bolt had wedged itself in the seat runners, I never noticed it as my seat is quite far back normally, so hopefully the car should withstand a 15min thraping lol

Haha ape I know it's not the m1 I was just speaking hypothetically, I'm not saying I'm gonna be nail dodging while on track Smile
My point was accidents and mistakes happen
