Hi folks! I have for some time have a sharp dunk when i drive hard and shift gears fast! I also have the same dunk when i drive over sharp humps.
Is it maybe the strut mounts?

It could be many things.

I had the same thing when i hade my 180, it turned out to be the front lower arm (wishbone?) bushes.

if its the wishbone it should alter direction/pull when accelerating and letting off. along with the clunk. its probably your lower mount. Though it could as said above be a few things.

if its clumping it should do. Maybe yours just hadnt gone enough. When the bush wears down in the arm, its normally the central one, which give it extra play. when you accelerate hard the wheel pulls from it and toes out.... hence slight pull and tyre wear. When you let off after hard acceleration it should kink back as the play switches direction, as the load is reversed by the pressure of the gears/engine. If they get really worn and on both sides, it actuall makes driving straight difficult.
One way to check if there is play is to put the hand brake on and rock on the biting point as if to pull off. Have a freind do it or look at it. If the wheel moves forward/backwards in the arch its probably the arm thats worn.

I would say lower wishbones... I had the same clunking. Got a pair from euro car parts.
check your drop links too as mine went shortly after.

I changed the two upper engine mounts recently, without it making any difference. Did not bother changing the lower one, cause it looked just fine. could this be the problem?
Will check the lower wishbones too.

I´ll go for the lowear engine mount, mine just broke and makes quite a noise when shifting gears, actually is more loud upon 3,000-5,000rpm, the upper mounts are fine.

When the wishbones are damaged, the car tends to go to a side, even when you´re driving on straight line, and the noise is different.

I think it could be possible that its the lower mount, its there for a reason at the end of the day.

Also as said wishbones etc normally give a bit of pull, unless both have gone and its counter acting each other :D.

But i think wishbones would make noise while driving normally not just changing gear and pulling off fast.

Change the lower mount, then if that doesnt resolve it check all the bolts, subframe, suspension, wishbones etc

Still sticking with your lower mount, its the one that takes the strain from your engine pulling/ putting power to right hand wheel. you normally hear it when changing gear, as you state yours does.

Took a look at the lower mount today, it looked fine, but the rubber felt kind of soft. I was just wondering if its possible to change the mount without taking it of the car? if i have to take it of, i need to take out the whole driveshaft.

Yup, you need to disassemble the driveshaft, as it goes thru the mount, you need to take it off, it´s quite a work, better to do it with somebody else, not just alone.
