My friend has a Peugeot 206 and has been having problems when driving around with the engine cutting out.

She says it seems to randomly cut out when she's slowing down and going down the gears to stop, when she puts her foot on the clutch.
It's like it stalls and she has to turn the key to restart.

She also said it seems to do it when she's running low on fuel. Not necessarily on the orange light, but when its low.

Don't know if that's related though.

Anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks.

If it was fuel pump would it not just do it completely randomly?
I don't really know I'm not no expert lol.
Just seems weird it only does it when she's changing down gears to slow down, at a junction for example.
And only on low fuel.

I'm having the same problem at the moment. Sounds like the idle control valve/stepper motor. I took mine off and cleaned it. Touch wood it's been fine last day or so. Here is a helpful link.

Yea that does make sense. could be that I guess.
Would there not be problems at idle as well though. It only happens when slowing down and changing down gears?

Mine does it rarely could be dirty Spark plugs/ignition leads or something to do with injectors ? Not sure as mine is an old car... My old 106 used to do the same until i changed the spark plugs etc.. Then worked fine.

Exactly the same problem is up with my saxo, had it on the drive in pieces for months and have placed lots of parts so hopefully it's gone away. If not I can tell you what I think it's not Laughing

We have the same problem, does it exactly as OP says. we also found it did it if you hold the revs steady at about 2500 rpm :/

Its like when the revs drop, they just drop past idle. Get the warning light and some beeping and that.

Think we are going to clean the ICV, check all the vacuum hoses, see if we can clean the crank position sensor, although i reckon its the coil pack.

Car we have is a 1.4 8v

Now Driving a 1988 Volvo 360 GLT
2.0 8v RWD
Cheaper to insure than my 1.4 206 Very Happy

ive had new coil pack and spark plugs new air filter and even had the altenator checked and the car was still reving at what ever it pleased and cutting out so cleaned the throttle body out and i keep having to get out and adjust the throttle cable do the car doesnt cut out but this is now not working the car can be sitting at 2000rpm and when i come to a stop dip the clutch the engine cuts out and its happening every time i stop now and when the rev needle drops its going right down to 0 and sometimes its manages to save its self and sit at 500-300 revs like i say depends how it feels i think... any suggestions?
