Hi,

Van is 205 1.4 hdi.

Now i dont know if this is me being picky but the gearchange into 3rd is a little notchy and it seems to be like this 75% of the time - it feels like it is "catching"

It had a gearbox rebuild at approx 70k with new clutch and is now on 86k.

Also on cold mornings it doesnt quite click into reverse, i have to give it a good few try's.

I have done a google and forum search and 2 things have cropped up - replace the 3 linkages or try a fluid change.

I am confident of changing the fluid but wanted peoples opinions or experiances first.

many thanks in advance,

Adam

ah the good old not wanting to go into reverse, its really common on french crap, i mean cars Smile

when trying to put it in reverse keep putting a bit of pressure to make it go in and slowly lift the clutch up and you will find it just pops in nice and easy Smile

my 2nds been catching on and off since i had the clutch done last week, along with 1st and reverse (but these 2 have always been like this), i do believe you are right in saying it's the linkages. I'm interested what others have to say too though.

Agreed, but some later MA don't have a side-fill.
Peugeot themselves recomend filling from the top according to my mech.
All old gear-oil should be completely drained and the specified quantity then added.
He could be wrong though which is why I'm asking. Wink
