Couple months back my abs light decided to come on, it would come on and stay on, when I started the car it would stay on longer than normal but would then turn off, took it to my local garage and put it on their diagnostic machine but it didn't read an error code, anyway it has recently come back on again and is doing the same thing, any ideas?

Take it to a garage that has a decent code reader, not a ebay special

Had to do that with a ford the other day because I didn't have the laptop with me Laughing

Then on a MX5 had to put a LED between B+ and FEN and count the flashes Laughing

Have you checked the trigger rings on the drivehshafts? Mine was cracked but the light only came on over 100mph (which is why it took so long to show itself)...after a re-start the light would switch itself off.
