Hi Guys/Gals,
A little help please. I had a cat back stainless steel exhaust fitted to my 02 1.4 206 about a month ago from Longlife and have recently started to notice a horrible rattling sound when the car is cold. It stops when the temperature reaches about 80c.
Any ideas what it is likely to be?? I have checked to see if there is any play in the exhaust and from what I can see clamps/hangers seem ok.
I will probably take it back but would appreciate the feedback from you experts

I have only just resolved what sounds like a very similiar problem!
My exhaust was blowing on the clamp that goes from the exhaust pipe into the Cat.
The mechanic i saw describe Peugeot Cat Clamps as a 'total ballache', due to their ball/socket style design.
Have someone look at it, sounds like it's blowing just like mine was... Maybe block the air for a few seconds to see if it's losing further down the pipe?
All the mechanic did was re-do the clamp tighter, and put putty on the inside and out just to be safe. Was a 20 minute job!
(Edited to remove some exclamation marks, i was getting far too excited at the thought of giving what might be a helpful reply.)

Check that the coolant expansion tank is secure and that the mount has no play in it.
I had an exhaust sounding rattle after getting the exhaust replaced, which only happened when cold and went away at 80c. It turned out to be the expansion tank?!
It really, really did sound like the exhaust was loose though. Took ages to find.

Yep can see the problem now - looks like the clamp has come loose between the stainless and the cat, can see vapour drops coming out.
I have rung and left a message for Longlife to contact me to book it back in for them to sort it out. Would do it myself but as I have spent £279 with them they can fix it!!!

Gets better - driving down the mway to get my daughter and now the engine management light is constantly on. There is no loss of power or any other thing that I can see. It says in the manual that could be down to cat converter?? Any ideas seeing I have had nothing but aggro so far???

Read the fault code & go from there.

Could it be due to the gas leak in the exhaust system, If you can still drive it and is booked in then taking it to get fixed then check the EML after.

Car now ok. Have to replace a seal that links the stainless steel pipe and cat but that is it.
Went to local garage for EML and having plugged it in they have reset it - seems no problem minor cat threshold problem but they think may have been tripped by car cutting out.
Happy 206 owner for now lol!!!
