I posted some time ago that I had a high pitched rattle that can be heard even from inside the car, 206 GTi 137, V reg.
I cannot work out where this is coming from, but it happens only when moving, in all gears, appears to stay the same pitch no matter what speed I am, and is stopped by pressing the clutch in, once the clutch is up it does not re-appear straight away, but maybe 5 seconds later?
This is not a rattly engine cover like I thought before, but does anyone have a solution or idea?

Your clutch release bearing has probably collapsed, if it has its new clutch time.

havent tried knocking it out of gear, but will, and if the clutch has gone, the car has, not spending another penny on it, got another car to use.
anybody want some pug parts?

Why does no one want to fix there car when a wearing part goes?

I really dont get it, a clutch bearing can go on any car.

the bearing usually goes louder when you press the clutch,i was thinking with the power off the drive when rolling,if it goes could it be the cv
pressing the clutch in also takes the power off.

have a nice day

I just cant be doing with the expense, been given a VW for next to nothing with cam belt done and 75,000 on the clock,.

The sound does go when in neutral though, and I have got a dodgy cv boot on the drivers side, might have a look at that tomorrow just in case, as the clutch operates completely normally Sad

What are Transmech clutches like?
Seen one for £66, bearing in mind Im not massively bothered about it lasting longer than 12 months.

Checked the CV boot and found it had a piece of earting copper wire holding it on, replaced with a proper cv strap and the clicking has gone! Result!
Must have been catching on rotation.
