Hi, great site here I must admit, hoping I can provide help to others and learn from the more experienced Smile

We've just bought a 206 1.4 Verve...great car I must say however a couple of "differences" from the Ford Ka we previously owned, that I just wanted to confirm (or not) are 'car differences' and not problems:

1st gear can be hard to engage, ie/ coming up to a traffic light/roundabout slow down to 5/8mph, too slow for 2nd, but 1st seems very hard to engage, unless stationary? Normal or abnormal?

Stop the car, put in neutral, rev to 3k/4k rpm, let the revs drop, get some slight popping from the exhaust. I own a 1.7 Puma that has been set up to pop on splutter on the overrun, and I LOVE it!! However would Peugeot have designed the car to do this OEM? Garage said the Verve was a sporty model, could this be a reason? Which leads to the next question of the exhaust sounding like its blowing, again a sound I quite like, but normal or abnormal? The garage we bought it from didn't express any concern over it, but I guess they wouldn't?

Press the clutch down quite hard, stationary or moving, and about 2/3rds of the way down it makes a loud click/clunk, (about 5% of the time) sounds like a spring is "springing?!" not a nice sound, I would guess not normal but any ideas of the problem?

Other than this I must say I am mighty impressed with the car, drives like a dream!!
Thanks Smile

All of them

None of them

From my experience, First gear won't engage unless the car is stopped.

i have this problem sometimes. i think i have found a sweet spot in it where it goes in like any other gear. perhaps you will get used to it.

I agree with you on this, you get used to where the right spot is to engage it. Smile
