Well I have the chuffing noise coming from injector 1 area. From reading around it seems this is the injector sealing washer.

Does anybody have a guide of how to change these before I strip all the gubbings from the top, and anythings I should watch out for when removing the injectors.

Its quite a job, ive done the bottom copper injector seals and the leak of pipe seals twice now on customers cars.

Basically to get at the injectors the rocker cover/intake manifold, air intake and upper cambelt cover has got to be removed. Im sure its all covered in a haynes manual though so that might be a better idea than finding out while you do it.

Whilst your doing it seeing as your striping it down i would recommend replacing the leak of pipe seals and check the pipes conditions. Also check the injector pipe harness (check service box for picture, its the set of fuel pipes that include the hand primer and run from the fuel filter under the air box to the fuel pump.) As there prone to having the air box rubbing/chafing on the pipes causing a small hole which allows air into the system and means you have to hand prime it to get all the air out the system in order to start the car.

Thanks for the reply. Will get a haynes tommorow. I have had the airbox off and checked the pipes before and they seemed ok. I actually put some rubber over them to add protection when i changed the fuel filter.

I was under the immpression it was only the copper washers so will order the leak off pipe seals as well for while im doing the job. Suppose i had better get a rocker cover gasket as well.

Cheers
john

It makes sense to replace the leak of pipe seals, there only small so you need a pick to prise them out, just becareful removing the leak of pipes from the injectors as the plastic part that fits into the injector cracks if your heavy handed when removing them.

I think when i got the copper washers and seals they came to £1 something, might be an idea to get a few extra leak off pipe seals as there easy to lose.

I never changed the rocker cover gasket or intake manifold rubber seals instead i just cleaned the seal and where the seal sits then used a dab of grease to help preserve the rubber/make it easier to slot back on.
