Was just out in my car and been driving like a nun for past day or so. Joined a motorway slip road put the pedal down and not much happened. It was seriously under powered. Got off the motorway and pulled over, restarted the engine and all was well again Surprised Anybody else had this issue as couldn't find anything on here or google. Is anything on its way out or was it just throwing a wobbler. Its under warranty for another 2 1/2 months so if something needs fixing will get it done.

might be your vvt solenoid, far as i know it just needs removing and cleaning with carb cleaner, 1 sign is that the cars feels like a 1.1

Yeah definately but would say more like a 1.4 as it moved a little. Any idea where the vvt solenoid is? have some carb cleaner in the garage from my old motorbike Smile

the vvti solenoid is the sensor on the right hand side of the coil pack, (looking at that pic) its actually on the left looking at the engine, its held in with a allen key and just pulls out, but be carful not to drop when its out as its very delicate and rather pricey i think

no worries, also while your at it might swell clean the mass air meter, it only bolts into the throttle body, 10mm socket i think, access is very tight and you might drop the bolt but its just falls out under the car Very Happy

Gave it a good blast with the carb cleaner and seems to drive smoother and now picks up quicker lower in the revs. Just need to find the ICV now so its not rough at idle.

I know this is an old post. Mine had these symptoms this morning. I was going up the road then power just dropped off. I was just wondering if anyone had a guide to cleaning the VVTi solenoid?

Did the problem stay solved? Or is it worth getting a new one?

Thanks you in advance for your advice
