I have an oil leak but need help pinpointing it. I would rather have the seals before I take it to bits.
I have a fair bit of oil around my sump on the drivers side. There seems to be a lot behind the main pulley but not sure if its from that seal as there is some oil further up as well; In a small gap between the cam cover and the alternator. It looks like oil has been running down from there. I have had the top of the cam cover off and the belt is dry so that is a good thing at least.
Where else could it be leaking? It is not from the camshaft seal.
I took some pictures but they didn't come out.

i think its the same as mine its coming from the driver side front corner of engine right?
If it is its the oil feed way leaking between head and block same as my engine havent got round to it yet not a worrring thing tho been like this since i had it 2 years ago

Possibly. It could be the crank seal but I am not sure. I don't want to take it to bits before I have the seal I need. I would buy a couple of different ones if they were not expensive but I don't know if it could be anything else other than the crankshaft seal.

Give it a good clean with degreaser and wash it down so that the engine is clean. then kkep a close eye on the oil leak(s.) it could be more than one.
Start replacing seals from the top down as oil will run from and to places that you don't expect. Clean the engine after each seal is replaced.

Its the headgasket leaking the oil
Common failure, average genuine unit lasts about 20 to 30k miles

That is what I was hoping it was not going to be Adam. I didn't know they started leaking that early. Without working it out my engine is on about 50k now.

Just come across my thread now. It was the Crankshaft oil seal. £60 to have it fixed because I couldn't be arsed to do it myself. In all honestly.
