Hi All,
I was taking the car on a long journey this weekend and I have noticed a problem. This did happen a few weeks ago and then stopped.
If I press the accelerator in fully quickly instead of applying the extra power my revometer goes up about 1000-1500 rpm for a second and then drops back down. If I keep my foot in place it will then slowly increase the speed.
This is confirmed to happen in 3rd, 4th and 5th (I have not tried 2nd or 1st yet). It does not happen all the time (i.e. every journey) but I would say it is happening 60% of the time and if it happens at the start of a journey it will continue to happen.
I dont know much about cars but could this be something to do with a faulty sensor? I had an issue about 2-3 years ago where my car would just rev really high for no reason (even when in neutral). I went to get a replacement sensor however the one I was give was the wrong size. But I removed the old one and cleaned it (before putting it back in) and this seemed to sort that issue.
Anyway your help would be most appreciated as I want to get it sorted. If I need any spare parts a link to where I could get them from would be great (I have a eurocar parts near me which I often use).
Thanks
Gary

Could it possibly be your clutch slipping?

I thought it might be the clutch slipping, I must say changing into gear has become easier over the last few weeks, after my wife drove the car
If I do need to replace the clutch how much are we looking at? I know its different in different parts of the country but a rough guide would be appreciated
