Well as per usual being french my 206 has developed another fault, this time the problem has been picked up on the RAC's diagnostic computer as a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Searching on eurocarparts I have found a crank angle sensor for £12.60 which reading the product information sounds like what i need.
Is this crank angle sensor another name for the crankshaft position sensor or is it a different item altogether?

|
Different part. Crank sensor is on top of engine. Angle sensor is on pulley side I think?

Part number 419770050 titled camshaft sensor is actually a crank sensor. I'm sure I didn't pay that much from the Peugeot dealer.
Crank angle and crank sensor are the same thing. They both tell the ECU the rotational position of the crank using the timing marks on the flywheel.

and yourself too mate, i just thought it was the ecu gone again because it was behaving the same as before only this time was unable to start engine

Obviously not! Or am I missing something?
The car won't start as the ECU can't detect the position of the timing. Will usually say Crank/Cam shaft un-synced in live data.

Anyway, on a 1.4i at least, there is only crankshaft sensor unlike 138, 180 etc. which have cam shaft pos sensor as well.
Lee, it might be interminent no?

Possibly, but it should tell you when you code read.
Sometimes just needs the sensor cleaning.
