my brother has an ford escort and when he turns the steering wheel to turn a corner instead of the wheels wanting to straighten back up as they normally would it tries to pull it towards full lock. does anybody know what could be causing this??

Bent wish bones / tracking out. Take it somewhere like Tyre Sales on Humber Road, or, Windsor Garages off Deedmore Road. The only 2 places I genuinely trust to diagnose steering/suspension problems in Coventry.
Both are honest and neither will rip you off.

Guys, stop being idiots. Granted this is a 206 site, but what happened to the community spirit?
I was here long before most members - back in 2006/2007! & I can remember the sense of people wanting to help one another - not this "you've posted in the wrong section" bulls**t. Get a grip and help fellow members out.

Incorect/non-existant steering-wheel return to centre is usually caused by massive +ve toe instead of properly aligned, slight -ve toe. So I would check tracking asap as your mate is a moving danger to himself and other drivers on the road, if it's as bad as you describe.

It's not nice to tell people when/if they can post or not.
And you wouldn't be helping the friend if you just rushed-back and told him whatever the first reply you liked was.

My Fiesta did the same when one of the front springs snapped at the top, but as others have said it could be a number of things like bent suspension arms, tracking etc....
