Clutch judder is a common GTI 180 problem.

Either put up with it until it needs a new clutch OR replace the 3 part clutch kit & skim / replace the flywheel.

if its a common problem and you replace them parts will it not come back anyway? therfore replacing them would be a waste of time? or will replacing them cure the problem?

Normally its down to the clutch, while its out it pays to give the flywheel a skim / replace the flywheel so the new clutch kit has the best chance to bed in.

forget me if this sounds stupid but if you skim the flywheel your making it thinner so the clutch gap will be biggern the bite will be much higher

on both my 180's the problem was the thrust bearing was trying to eat there way through the presure plates.
i belive the standerd set up is a velo one so i have replaced them with the luk kits as it seems a very common problem so i am hopeing the luk one will prove to last longer.

no mate they seem fine i have no complants about them at all only thing that did feel strange for a day or so was the fact its so light now,but that would be the same with the velo kit aswell.
as said i went luk because if the standerd one has gone on loads of 180's why put the same back in only to have the same problem again in the future.
ok the luk may give the same problem only time will tell.

I've had the same problem, never had the fly wheel replaced only clutch and nothing gone wrong for 7-8 months of having it replaced.
