206 + diesel engine = DW10 everytime, bulletproof lump thats proven to do 400K + miles easily if looked after.

Anybody thinking of buying a FAPTASTIC piece of s**te 206 needs there straitjacket tightening.

The 1.6 HDI lump is the worse engine Peugeot ever fitted to the 206.

is low mileage diesel a selling point? maybe true for the DV6 but certainly not quite true for the DW and XUD.

it is not uncommon for the DW and XUD diesel hit over 300K miles, if you look after it well.

The best example i have seen so far is over 470K miles on a C5.

3 breaks down over 7 years is quite a lot to me.

3 breakdowns in 7 years on a car which is 22 years old and covered 191000 miles on the chassis.

Vehicle technician is going to come with me as you don't look at a car by yourself as it's easy to miss things others might see. No he's not 10 years old lol.

I've been lead to believe the DPF is more likely to go tits up if you do short journeys?

I have no interest in mapping a diesel any diesel car that I buy will be for economic reasons. I have my mr2 waiting to have its head gas flowed so if I was to modify any car it certainly wouldn't be a diesel.

So why did you say you don't want to remap it because you want it for economic reasons... even though it will improve economy?

You have to at least admit what you're saying makes no sense what so ever? Confused

depends on what you mean by short.

10 mins drive above 50 mph is long enough for the dpf to regen.

And full tank each time will makes your dpf fluid tank last longer each time you fill up the tank( no matter how much diesel you put in ) will injector 1 shot of fluid into the tank.

he might be able to spot the dpf problem but it will be very hard to spot the turbo or dmf problem.

I bought it for £2500 earlier today.

I will be getting a fully third party warranty on the car as well as my mate owns a car sales Company and can sell me a warranty for any mechanicals.

Aside from the apparent issues, goes bloody quick for a diesel.

I wouldn't feel safe in the GTi 180 petrol version

Are you a betting man really?

Must admit jap car forums even when you've been warned about something people still support you after you buy it, don't bet when it's going to break down and wish bad luck upon you.

Its a DV6 engined 206, enough said Wink

You had enough warnings from different forum members but you set your heart on buying it & ignored all the good advice you where given.

Im looking forward to your first of many problem threads when it goes wrong.
