Hi all,

Got a constant but intermittent hum coming from the rear of the car...

Same point every revolution, gets quicker and louder with speed.

Took the wheels off today to make sure it was nothing obvious, but I can't see anything rubbing and there is no uneven wear on the tyres.

Thinking it may be a wheel bearing? But would the sound not be constant?
How much would a wheel bearing change be?

Or any ideas of what else it could be?

Thanks!

Could be the shoes if the material has come away from the metal but I doubt it

Hmmm got this on mine at the minute too, and did have the drums stick on once (although not repeated since) so I'm inclined to agree it's probably the shoes.

A 1.6 petrol 16 valve 206 that the OP has should have rear discs fitted.

Hi guys, yep sorry I have rear disks.

I was thinking it may be a sticky piston as the brakes do seem to bind in the mornings occasionally...??
But pad wear appears to be even.

Warped disk maybe?
