Having slight health problems with my aerial at the mo - its cutting the radio in and out so I reckon I'll need a new one.

Thinking of having an amplified one from ebay

Please have a look at this aerial and let me know how I attach it to the original aerial lead and if I will need to drill a larger hole to fit this. I have emailled the seller but got a response saying if I'm not sure then don't buy it. Tw@ts

I have an 03 plate 1.4 hdi

Any help or guidance please?

I would say from it being universal fitment that it won't be plug And play to be honest. I may be wrong but I bought one similar a few years back that said the same and the cables didn't match the ones on my car.

Amplified aerials do work but are not always the answer. If your aerial is poor or you regularly drive in poor reception areas then the amplifier amplifies the received "noise" with the signal.

I would make sure I had the best aerial I could get before adding an amplifier to it.

Think of it like an old record or scratched CD. If you amplify (turn up) the volume the sounds you don't want (clicks and pops) get louder as well as the sound that you do want to hear.

*update*

I received the aerial but it was not a direct fit. I would have had to drill a larger hole to accommodate the securing nut, and chop the cars aerial wire and join it the connector blocks if I'd wanted to make it fit.

A task I was not prepared to do, given the theory it may not even receive a signal to the radio :-/

Anyway, I have stumped up a little more cash for an original aerial and base. Works a treat Smile

Lesson learnt, me thinks...
