anybody got a 206 xsi 1.6 16v, im looking at more power atm, so far it has a 4-2-1 stainsteel steel manifold and a straight decat race tube to a peco big bore backbox, anybody suggest any decent cams, or any good ecu tuning places, and could suggest anything else which could improve power/torque, any help will be grateful thankyou!

Turbo!! Bigger pistons, Fast Cams, gutted interior. There are alot of things to do. Maybe port and polishing or skim the head?

All depends on how far you want to go and how much you want to spend.

how much money you got? youve got cams/head work, throttle bodies or if your a fan of boost you can go the turbo/supercharger road. the only limit is how much youve got to spend

How much money have you got?

If you don't want to go forced induction...

Exhaust, air filter will see to near nothing on their own

Cams + remap, port + polished throttle body will get between if 135hp - 150hp with a decent manifold and filter if setup correctly @ £450 - £600

Throttle bodies on standard pistons with the same cams will push 165hp @ £1500 - £2500 (possibly remain on standard ecu, but not recommended)

High compression setup including high comp pistons, forged con rods, uprated ARP bolts, headwork etc. Same throttle bodies as before but will need cams designed for aftermarket pistons. Will see 180hp - 195hp @ £4000 - £5000

Obviously prices differ majorly if you use brand new or second hand parts and if you do the work yourself but that's normally enough to put most people off. A lot of people think you will noticeable gains throwing a few quid here and there but it's far from the case.

Hint: If you want cheap(er) power just get a basic turbo setup for around £1500 (second hand) will see 180hp whilst still being fairly reliable on standard internals or more if you want to risk it.

why? the 1.6 has 27 bhp less than the 2.0 as standard and is a little lighter, much better on fuel, cheaper to tax and insure and the TU5 engine is really tuneable.

JP4s are excellent to tune, even more so than the VTS / 106 GTI J4 due to the larger valves can easily see an extra 5-10bhp more with the same mods when mapped right
