Hey guys

Just wanted to get something clear... there are two readings, the overall reading I'm assuming is milage but what about the other reading? kilometers or miles or??

I really hope it is mileage, just tested how far it goes with £10 and around 80 miles. Is that bad? Surely 80 kilometres for £10 is just awful!

Thanks Smile

Your possibly talking about the service indicator, if thats the case then it just tells you roughly when your due a service.
PM me for Valeting & Detailing services at great rates!
Detailing Guides are also available ask me for more information.

Think about it logically, £10 is less than 2 gallon, so if you are getting 35-40 miles per gallon or kilometer (not sure which as you mention them both in the OP) and depending on the type of driving you are doing, then it might be OK.
On a new model 2003 1.1, you could only expect 44mpg in mixed driving.
Giving the car a service and putting a full tank of shell v-power in will increase economy.

If the second reading comes on when you turn the ignition on, then goes off after 5 seconds, it's more likely the service indicator.

Edit. dug these out so they may help

You are on about the trip meter. All are in Miles if the car is from the UK

80 miles is good for a tenner and it will be the trip distance not overall mileage

Thanks Smile

I believe I can do 10 miles for every litre, around £1.35 for every 10 miles not bad, but with countries at around 67p a litre... it would feel incredibly cheap! Smile

Hi I`m a new member.I have just purchased an old (1998) 206 to keep me mobile after my last car was written off.I am quite happy with it but the mileage indicator isn`t showing,It apparently went off when a fuse blew while the previous owner was going on holiday.she is a young lady with no mechanical understanding at all.I dont know what other facilities were affected so I haven`t a clue as to which fuse to replace.I don`t know how critical it is, pther than an inconvenience but it got through it`s last M.o.T with the mileage stated as "not displayed".Has anyone any ideas on how to restore it,please?

Check the bulb behind it.

Yes.

That bulb is always the first to go because it's on all the time, even with headlights or sidelights off.
Easy fix once you get behind the dials.

Since receiving the reply re bulb from macca1411(thanks again macca) I haave since learned that the problem first occurred when the previous owner was going on holiday using a satnav plugged into cigar lighter. The satnave went down so she drove to neares garage who diagnosed a blown fuse. They replaced the fuse which brought the satnav back to life so they continued on their way.It seems the mileage indicator failed at the same time,so, as everything else seems to be working it lokks as if the bulb blowing may have caused the fuse to blow. Can anyone tell me the type of bulb required to light up the mileage indicator as I have to go quite a long way to buy said bulb and would prefer to purchase one before dismantling the facia. The car is 1998 S reg 206 LX 1.1 5 door hatchback. Thanks ,in anticipation.
