Hi Guys,

After last service on my 206 in March I was told to replace the timing belt within the next year, preferably by October to be safe. Just this morning I heard a rattling and noticed part of the belt has worn/snapped, but most of it is still intact.

Obviously this will need replaced, but my question is will the belt be sufficient or should I go for the whole kit & water pump? I appreciate you probably won't b able to say much without seeing it but I don't know an awful lot about engines or parts so I'm kind of in the dark.

You better hope it hasn't jumped a tooth if it's rattling.
But did you take the plastic cover off, or are you simply looking at the external V-belt instead?

Definately the whole lot straight-away.

the whole lot buddy! The amount of 206's on here that have had cambelt failure is unreal! Not worth any risk! Get it booked in for tomorrow. How do you intend on getting it to the garage?

I suppose I could get someone to tow it. A friend has offered to change it if I source the parts - would you recommend this kit?

Perfect bloody timing as well, going on holiday in a fortnight!

Its not far away at all (2 mins down the road) so that shouldn't be a problem. Noticed it doesn't actually have the cambelt cover so Ill try and find one of those as well.

Good news (I guess) - It's not the cambelt, its the aux belt. Less of a worry! Managed to get it down to the garage, hopefully have it back up and running soon enough!

Get the timing belt done or it really will be bad timing.
