Would really appreciate some help. I bought a 2004 206 diesel last night. Drove fine all the way home.
Started fine this morning, drove round the corner slowly, engine completely died. No spluttering just stopped dead.
Car wouldn't start, there is a code in the dash display....a spanner symbol then 10250.
Feel like I've searched the whole internet and cannot find anything relating to this error.
Left the car all day, tried to start it again on the way home from work, nothing.
Any info gratefully received!!
Thanks

That's telling you how far to next service.

Take it to a garage that has proper diagnostic equipment and get the codes read.
1.6 HDi = expensive to repair.

Does the engine turn over on the key or is it completely dead?
Have you let it get low on fuel recently?

Most likely why the previous owner got rid of it in first place

Engine turning over. Fuel indicator shows just below half full.
I only picked it up last night so don't know if it's run dry recently.
Thanks

Private or trade purchase?
If it's trade, then tell them to get it sorted or refund your money as it's not fit for purpose.
Private is slightly longer winded, but could get a partial refund on the price if they are decent people.

Was private purchase. Bought as seen so it's my problem now.
Thought it would be a good idea going from an ST to a diesel, but still wanted something with at least a bit of go in it. Now it's going nowhere!
Got it all booked in for cam belt and service next week to be on the safe side. Just need to get it to the freaking garage now!

Between the time that you picked it up to the time that it stopped did the fuel gauge move at all? Might be worth you putting a can of diesel in it to see if it will run, it wouldn't be the first time a fuel gauge was faulty if it does start.
By the way, just so you have the information, the 1.6 has no lift pump under the back seat. It runs off a mechanical pump in the engine bay that's driven by the timing belt, and there should be a rubber piece inline with the diesel filter somewhere that you can pump to bleed the fuel through. Might be worth giving this a few squeezes too.

I have only driven it about 12 miles in all since collecting so can't really say if the fuel has gone down.
Will have to get someone out tomorrow to diagnose. At least I should have some idea what the problem is then.
Thanks for your reply.

I would be well surprised if someone letting a car go leaves half a tank of diesel.
Maybe he or she didn't want to elaberate that the fuel gauge is nackered, not nice if thats the case.

The car might be dry with a faulty gauge..spend a fiver on a can of diesel and give it a go...dont firget to try to pump it a few times first where above said...will save you the cost of a loader to the garage...

Some of the ideas people are throwing out nowadays......... I would be checking fap pressures, boost lines for turbo failure (oil blocking them) and see if the ecu is unlocking
