So i need to fit a new nearside antiroll bar stabiliser bar with the two ball joints and ive heard three times now how easy they are to change..now im no mug but to hold the thread part of each joint still while undoing the nut with a 16mm spanner..baring in mind they are well rusted.....
They use a torx bit?????now it stands to reason that these are quite tight so how the heck do i lock up this torx head without rounding it off but still holding it tight enuf to remove the nuts....two of....also baring in mind the inaccessability(long word that isn't it?)
Of the ball joints behind the suspension and discs and such...
If you guys have a special tool or method then please enlighten me because there gonna loose those star edges very soon and they will need grinding off...thanks.

do you not have any L shape torx bits? When i done mine i didnt use the torx fitting untill they where loose to stop it spinning. Try just loosening the bolt the without the torx first?

also turn then wheel to get a better angle. and use lots of penetrating oil if you have any or just lots of WD40.

Don't bother with WD40 ... proper penetrating oil like plusgas.
Or just cut the old ones off ... you get new nuts with the new ones ... hard work but a junior hacksaw with a good blade should do it or a nut splitter from your local tool suppliers.

If it's too much hard work then a hacksaw on the nut is fairly quick...more difficult on the damper though because there's less space...can still be done though.

Its supposed to be an improvement on the old basic type but give me the old type and a ball joint seperator anyday.
With seperator in place its easy and even easier if you have a windy gun......im wanderin if it can be done as if it IS the older type?
I will dig out my ball joint seperator and try it as it shoyld be done..no pointlessly fiddly and under adequate torx bits involved then??
Either way i guess a 16mm ratchet swivel head ring spanner is best to get the nut held properly not an open ended 16mm .....those ratchet spamners are so expensive with 16mm quite a rarity.

Grip the bush with a pair of grips, and just undo the nuts.

Yes steve..thats what the guy at peugeot said as he pointed it out on a van on there ramp but im pretty sure after looking yesterday that its not possible to get any purchase on the bush or stud or threads or out??
Bad design these.....im sure there's a job for me at peugeot and a lot of other makers for that matter..
I have loads of ideas that far improve on there ideas so why do they come up with all these bad ideas when there's so many better ideas that are obvious to me so why not them??
Brake pipes should have protected corners and clampss with a simple rubber waterproof split tube rolled onto the pipes at these featured vullnerable areas..removeable and reuseable so you can check the condition easily to be sure of the pipes condition..
Antiroll bar ball joints should have a cut slot right into the stud end and threads cut deep right threw to put a screw drivers flat head or failing that to put a chisel flat into it or just a thin steel plate with a soft grip on one end to avoid the need for the stupid torx bit/allen key head...shaped a bit like a spreader put right across and jammable to get as much nut off as possible then use a big flat head acrewdriver threw the centre of the nut to get the last few threads off well easily...infact i my add my own flat cross cut and get my swines off that way...
Its just a shame im getting out of breath too easily lately and theyve given me a pre-lim diagnosis of COPD...chronic obstructive pulminary disease but i think its just asthma..either way i now have an inhaler until i get tests done and when i use it its like having new lungs and im back to fully freshly fit again as if i hadnt worked at all...so am i fit really behind the illness or does this inhaler just seem like thats true???
Sorry for off topic chat...i guess if i wait until i can use the facilitys at rent a ramp to get this sorted on the rampvwirh all the air tools etc.
Rent a ramp in darlington is a self service garage where you rent a ramp or a bay and work on your car renting tools etc. And using thete many facilitys to get the job done properly without crawling around on the floor and knacking yourself as we all aint gettin any younger....sadly..ps...ramp is @£15 and a bay is £10 AN HOUR if i remember rightly which im sure i do..
