How can I tell if the water pump needs changing? It wasn't changed when the cambelt was changed at 84k miles, I am now on 105k miles. I haven't noticed any noise but I do know the coolant averages 97-100 degrees after 5 minutes driving from cold, it heats up quick and with the aircon on the revs are very erratic and jumpy? Also I have noticed a minor water leak from after the aircon was on, I was told this is normal?

Well as long there is no noise,or coolant leaking under the engine (water pump side) then you are fine for now,but what get tricky in water pump if the blades stop working, and that happen when the the toothed wheel keep spinning while the blades stay still,in this case, you will have a very high coolant temp. as the cycle of the coolant will stop

About the minor water leak you have after the aircon. was on,that is very normal,as the pipes get so cold, while the weather is so hot,so there will be condensation which will drop water on the ground, there is a canal for that purpose

There is a drain pipe that exits the floor of the car near where the gearshift is.

If you look under the car in this area on the left hand side you will see a black rubber bung, that's the air con drain & its perfectly normal for a small puddle or trail of water to be left under the car if the system has been running.
