A bit of an update. Using the same kit/software/laptop I tried it on a friend's 05 plate 206 HDI. Putting his DAM number in, it found his engine ecu no problem.
So it must be an issue with my car causing my engine ecu not to "talk" properly to the test gear. As I said it knows the ecu is there with faults present, but cannot identify or read it.
My DAM number is inputted correctly.
His car was built around 6/7 months before mine.

Still getting nowhere with this. I have even reset the BSI following the correct procedure. Still my engine ecu comes up as "unknown reference". I presume it's to do with the car as another 206 I tried works ok as I said. Clutching at straws I'm afraid especially as it says presence of faults. I'm 99.9% sure it is a KFW S2000.

Does the 206 have a fuse for the OBD port as I know Vauxhalls do and the main dealers take the fuse out so the ecu cant be accessed.

I'm not sure, but all the other ecu's can be accessed ok. Various "appropriate" fuses are mentioned in the handbook. I've checked all those both inside the car & under the bonnet. They all seem ok.

My version 25.01 Peugeot Planet works perfectly fine with my 2003 vintage Sagem S2000 ecu that is connected to my TU3 KFW lump.
Picks it up on global test & also can go in manually with no issues.
My PSA interface firmware is 4.2.2

Thanks for the info.
It didn't work on my car with firmware 4.2.2 or currently 4.3.0.
Neither does any version of PP2000 including 25.01 like yours or currently the version in Diagbox 7.02.
As all the other ecu's show ok & it picks up the engine ecu on another (diesel) 206, I think my car must be at fault.
The only other thing I could try is another PP2000 kit, but I don't know anybody else with one. I am in the Reading area if that's any help.
Whether a hand held generic code reader would work I don't know, do not want to buy one for nothing.

Dont later versions of Diagbox need the PSA interface flashing so they work correctly?
Flashing the interface is a different thing to just changing the firmware.

Not sure about that, but as I said even in the same set up as you - 4.2.2 & PP2000 25.1 - it still doesn't work.

Are you 100% sure you have a S2000 ecu?
Someone might have changed it for a replacement one due to a fault & fitted the wrong one.
Pop the ecu out & get the id numbers of it is the next step.

I have a picture of it. But can't seem to upload it on here.
Putting a Flickr url in only shows a blank icon.

I get the feeling that ecu may have come of a Citroen C3 or Pug 307.
